Breast Asymmetry

Perhaps the single most important component of beauty is symmetry. Conscientiously or sub-conscientiously, we immediately search for symmetry when evaluating beauty. One of the great ironies of life however, is that no human being, not even the most famous of super-models, is perfectly symmetrical. If we were to measure our different body parts we would consistently find differences between the two sides. The length of our right arms will be different than the left, as will the size of our eyes, ears and legs.

The most common body parts to have differences are the breasts. It is exceedingly rare for any woman to have perfectly symmetrical breasts, yet it is this difference that is often most disturbing to woman. Whether one evaluates the size, shape, nipple position or location of the fold under the breast, one will find differences. Beverly Hills breast surgeon, Dr. Warren Lent, advises women to first evaluate and understand these differences before they begin the process of correcting breast asymmetry. The goal with correcting breast asymmetry is to restore reasonable symmetry between the two sides while understanding that perfection is rarely achievable.

There is no one solution that fits all women. Each woman presents with a unique set of circumstance that requires careful evaluation during the consultation process. Plastic Surgeon Dr. Lent will perform a thorough consultation and evaluation to accurately asses each woman’s particular needs.

Breast Lift

Considering a breast lift in Beverly Hills or Los Angeles by a board certified plastic surgeon? How we perceive ourselves is essential to our overall well-being. A positive self-image is an indispensable element of good psychological health. Breast shape and size are an inherent component of a woman’s feeling of femininity, vitality and personal beauty. Breast shape can change dramatically during the various phases of a woman’s life leading to a loss of elasticity and firmness. Fortunately, there is a wonderful procedure that can correct this problem called a Breast Lift or Mastopexy. In Beverly Hills, Breast Lifts performed by a highly qualified, Board Certified Plastic Surgeon, such as Dr. Warren M. Lent, could restore the youthful vitality to your breasts.

Breast shape can change due to pregnancy, breast-feeding, weight loss, hormonal changes and the aging process. Breasts are composed of several different types of tissue, including glands, ducts, fat, and suspensory ligaments. It is when these various tissues begin to lose their tone that breasts begin to sag. Gravity plays an important role in causing the downward migration of breast tissue, creating the loose, drooping appearance.

Breast sagging, known in medical terms as Ptosis, is classified on a scale of one to three. The determination of the grade of Ptosis is made based on the position of the nipple in relation to the fold under the breast, called the Inframammary Fold. Grade I is when the nipple is at the fold, grade II is when the nipple is up to one inch below the fold and grade III is when the nipple is over one inch below the fold and the nipple is pointing downward. It is very important for your Los Angeles Plastic Surgeon to determine your grade of Ptosis as this will help determine your treatment plan.
