Forehead/Brow Lift

All those years of raising your eyebrows in astonishment, scrunching your brows together in a scowl or just the constant assault of gravity have taken a toll on your forehead. The indelible wrinkles and the drooping brows have become noticeable. This highlights that there are essentially two components to the aging forehead; the skin changes resulting in wrinkles and the change in position of the eyebrows.

Deep wrinkles are caused by several factors, most notably skin damage due to sun exposure and the constant contractions of the underlying muscles of facial expression. By understanding the causes, patients can now more easily understand the rationale for treatment recommendations. The first line of treatment for the forehead is with “injectables”; either fillers such as Restylane and Collagen, or muscle paralyzers like Botox. The “fillers” act by puffing out the skin at the site of the wrinkle, while Botox paralyzes the underlying muscles preventing them from squeezing or furrowing the skin. Both groups offer only temporary solutions as they wear off within a few months. A permanent solution requires a plastic surgical procedure called a Forehead Lift or Brow Lift. This procedure usually incorporates a combination of removal of the muscles causing the wrinkles and smoothing or stretching of the affected skin. Additionally, the wrinkles may require Laser Skin Resurfacing, which is an excellent way of erasing lines as it causes the body to bring in fresh collagen. Board certified, Los Angeles Plastic Surgeon, Dr. Warren Lent has consistently been recognized for his outstanding work and experience with these procedures.

The “Pocket”: The Art of Breast Augmentation

What is the “pocket?”

The surgeon must create a space in which the implant is placed. That space is commonly referred to as “the Pocket.” The proper creation of the pocket is the single most important aspect of the surgical procedure. This must be done precisely and with great care. The pocket should be large enough to comfortably accommodate the implant and allow it some movement, yet not too large that the implant lies in the wrong position. A well-done pocket is what can lead to a beautiful natural appearing and soft feeling breast augmentation.

Unfortunately, there are many breast augmentation mills where the procedure is done in an assembly-line fashion. In these places, the patient is often attracted by a low price, yet corners are cut to save time and money and very little effort is put into creating a proper pocket. It is the results from these “mills” that are often the source for the so called “bad breast job.”

This is where the benefit of a fully trained, board certified Plastic Surgeon makes a real difference. The surgeon should be certified by the American Board of Plastic Surgeons. This type of certification indicates that the doctor has shown a real commitment to his specialty and craft. As Beverly Hills Plastic Surgeon Warren Lent, MD says; “a properly board certified Plastic Surgeon has proven his skill and commitment to patients. This type of physician will spend the time to do the job right!”

Choosing the correct implant size

Choosing the correct implant size

How do I choose the size of my implant?

Choosing the correct implant size is a ‘team effort’ between you and your surgeon. You need to convey to your surgeon the vision you have in your mind, as to what the final size that you want your breasts to be. Beverly Hills Breast Augmentation surgeon, Dr. Warren Lent, uses multiple methods to get a sense of how much larger you want to be.

Often this discussion starts with questions about bra cup size. You will need to give your surgeon an accurate assessment of your current bra size and have some idea of how much larger you would like to be, in terms of cup size, after the breast augmentation.

Understand that all cup sizes are not created equal. Every bra company has its version of what the various cup sizes should be. Bra Company No.1 may have a very different size for a C-cup then bra Company No.2. Even within the same company, variations in style can also lead to significant variations in cup sizes. There is no industry standard for an exact measurement of what each cup size should be. All of this is very confusing, but at least it offers a starting point for the discussion between you and your surgeon. It is, however, important for you to recognize, that because of these variations, your plastic surgeon cannot guarantee an exact final cup size.
